Keeping It Casual This Thanksgiving
Posted on November 24, 2010 by brandaid in Trendy Tips
Your family certainly is a casual bunch, especially when it comes to Thanksgiving. Donning flour-covered aprons or football jerseys, it seems like everyone has her own agenda on this special day. At Drexel Heritage, we’ve cooked up a few delicious ways to decorate your Thanksgiving tabletop that will entice everyone, including those football fanatics, to the table – where they belong!
For our last tabletop post, we look to our Solamére collection. The sleek design of the Caress chairs and Fresco Dining Table, a dining set you can dress up or dress down, gives this room the perfect blend of sophistication and comfort. In the spirit of keeping things casual, forget the fancy stemware. We used very modish forks, knives and spoons that looked great with the very simple (yet elegant) white Mottahedeh china dishes.
En vogue with this year’s fall fashions, we used shades of purple and magenta to accent this tabletop. The darker foliage-patterned runner looks wonderful on top of the lighter finish of the table. It is complemented well by purple in the napkins, flowers, dinner plates, fruit and glassware.
We also love the contrast of the bright green leaves and especially love the branch used in the centerpiece. Earthy décor will evoke a sense of relaxation in your guests. To add a final touch of comfort, we added a few candles to the table. There’s nothing as soothing as the natural light of a burning candle.
So as you gather around your table this Thanksgiving, we want to wish you a very happy holiday and hope that you will enjoy the little moments that only a casual sit-down meal with your loved ones can bring!

A Formal Way to Say “Thanks”
Posted on November 23, 2010 by brandaid in Trendy Tips
Fancying a more formal feast this Thanksgiving? Your turkey won’t be the only thing you’ll need to dress. That little black dress or wool jacket aside, Drexel Heritage has several tips and ideas that will help you dress one of your most important assets this holiday season – your tabletop.
Looking to our Casa Vita collection for inspiration, we love the sophistication of the Rossi chairs next to our intricately designed Giordano Dining Table. The dark Marrone finish also complements the neutral fabrics of the upholstery and placemats we used to decorate this Thanksgiving tabletop, creating a look of soft refinement that is still very fitting for this autumnal season.
To set off the beiges and browns, we used subtle black, white gold and silver accents such as in the candlesticks, the detail on the Mottahedeh china plates and the metallic vase centerpiece. Of course you’ll also want to properly set your dining room table for this formal occasion, and in case you’re unsure about how to do it, we suggest reading over our recent blog entry.
Like any good host, you’ll also want to make sure that you have placeholders for each of your guests. Just because it’s a formal dinner doesn’t mean you can’t get a little funky with some of your decorations. We love our “nest-tags,” resting on a bed of twigs and topped off with beautiful feathers that fit in with our earthy color scheme. We also threw in a few more quirky decorations like the set of antlers and small bowls full of acorns.
With these formal and fun tips, we hope that your family and friends will enjoy celebrating this year’s Thanksgiving en vogue and will treasure these memories for a lifetime!

A Tradition of Thanksgiving
Posted on November 22, 2010 by brandaid in Trendy Tips
In 1621 at Plymouth Plantation, a new American tradition was born. Settlers and Native Americans from far and wide gathered to feast and give thanks for their successful growing season. Almost 400 years later, family and friends are still gathering around the table to celebrate this special holiday. At Drexel Heritage, we want to honor this long-standing tradition by sharing a few ways to decorate your tabletop in true traditional Thanksgiving fashion.
We first look to our Adaptations collection for inspiration. The elegant lines of these Henderson chairs paired with the Fallow finish of our Henry Dining Table makes this room the perfect setting for a Thanksgiving tabletop steeped in the traditional style.
Anything but gaudy, subtle design elements make a classy but bold statement at this table outfitted with an autumnal palette. We especially love the floral pattern of the placemats paired with the bright solid Mottahedeh china on top. The contrasting pattern of the napkins, the festive gold leaf bowls and tiny pumpkin decorations also add a nice element.
The final touch on this traditional tabletop is the floral arrangement. The bright blue vase looks great next to the crystal stemware and really makes the oranges, yellows and reds of the fall flowers pop.
As you gather around your table this Thanksgiving, Drexel Heritage hopes that tradition will live on in your home and that your family will continue to cherish these memories for a lifetime!
